My name is Gary Metz. I have been working in the animal industry for 11 years. I started out as a kennel worker. I have worked as an Animal Care Technician, Adoption Counselor, Animal Behaviorist. I am currently a Veterinary Technician and have been for the last 5 years. I have specialized in aggressive dogs and was able to put those talents to work during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. My schooling includes wildlife biology focused courses from Unity College in Maine and computer networking courses from University for Advancing Technology in Arizona. I have also taken safe handling technique and aggressive handling seminars through Puppy works, as directed by Sue Sternberg.
I started this page, much like most other pages get started, to save people some time in doing the research I have been doing. I have 3 dogs, Buddy, Trixie and Dexter. Two of my dogs (Buddy and Trixie) are geriatric. Buddy is 11 and Trixie is 9. My primary focus was to provide relief from the issues that plague us all as we get older, issues like arthritis and sore joints, so I started doing research on inflammation and non-harmful ways to treat it.
Steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) are harmful to the body, and with prolonged use, may cause organ failure. My intention was to find a way to treat the problems while prolonging the need to start NSAIDs or steroids. I have worked with the doctors at my practice and done research so that I could first understand the actual problem with inflammation and the mechanisms by which it works. I also worked with them regarding a full understanding as to how the products we were selling came to help and that is what you will find on this site, products that we have tried and found to be helpful to my dogs.
I hope you find this information helpful,
Gary.
